Think, Speak, Act - 3 Simple Steps to Holistic Health

I am a diabetic." "My arthritis is acting up." "I am a cancer patient." "I am fat and I always will be." How many times have you heard people refer to themselves in this way? Taking ownership in this way is destructive. Why would you want to personally take ownership of something like arthritis or angina or any other disease? Yet we say things like this without really thinking about it all the time.Every disease you can think of begins with an imbalance. That imbalance is caused by nutrition, habits and lifestyle that are out of harmony. All the cells, organs and systems of our bodies were created to work synergistically. That simply means they are to work together harmoniously. When your blood sugar is stable and balanced, you rarely develop cholesterol problems. When your diet includes healthy fats, your skin and joints are healthy. When you consume adequate clean water and fiber your digestive system works at peak performance and your blood fats remain balanced as well. So why does it matter what you call yourself? Your thoughts and speech are an important component of your lifestyle and habits. What you say about yourself is extremely powerful. The Bible puts it this way in Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." There is a natural progression. First you think the thought. That thought produces an electrochemical reaction, releasing chemicals that correspond to the type of thought it is. Fearful, anxious, sad and angry thoughts release specific chemicals. Happy, loving, kind and peaceful thoughts release entirely different chemicals. Each type of thought affects your entire body differently. These chemicals actually carry the emotion behind the thought you think throughout your entire body. That thought can actually change your whole system. Experiments were conducted which proved thoughts, feelings and emotions all create energy and have either a positive or negative affect on DNA structure. Your thoughts can create health and vitality or support illness and disease at the genetic level. So, your thoughts are step one. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you..." Everything begins as a thought. Words originate in our minds as thoughts before they're spoken. Thoughts focused on become beliefs.Out of those beliefs we speak and act.Thoughts then become spoken words. That's step two. Continually speak them and you can actually manipulate your physical body. Neurologists confirm that the speech center in the brain controls all the nerves of the body. According to James 3:2, 6: "We all make many mistakes, but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is full of wickedness that can ruin your whole life. It can turn the entire course of your life into a blazing flame of destruction..." If you continually say you are tired, weak and have no energy, guess what? Your body will have no choice but to obey your words.2 Corinthians 4:13 says, "We too believe and therefore we speak." Those spoken, power-packed words are the "fullness of your heart" (Matthew 12:34). Words contain power. In fact, Proverbs 18:21 tells us "death and life are in the power of the tongue" and science is confirming that truth. God created everything that exists by His Word (Genesis 1). We are the only creatures who can use our words as He does, by speaking them intentionally. These thoughts, beliefs and spoken words then become expectations. Consider Jesus' responses to these people who sought physical healing:To the woman with the issue of blood: "Your faith has made you well." Matthew 9:22.

To the blind men in Matthew 9:29: "According to your faith be it done to you."

To the centurion seeking healing for his servant: "Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed." (Matthew 8:13)Mark 11:23 tells us that if we believe that the words we say shall come to pass, and not doubt in our hearts, we will have them. This is referred to as the law of faith. Pastor Creflo Dollar defines faith as "a practical expression of confidence in God and His Word." According to Romans 10:10, "with the heart a person believes and so is justified and with the mouth he confesses and confirms salvation." The same principle works in our physical bodies. The woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20-22) illustrates it beautifully. She heard about Jesus and thought about what she heard. Her continual thoughts became a belief that He could heal her. That belief became the words she spoke over and over creating the expectancy of her healing. Then she put action to her faith (practical expression of her confidence) and touched the hem of His garment. Her expectation was fulfilled. If you are dealing with a blood sugar imbalance, please do not refer to yourself as a diabetic. Think and speak about yourself as a person who is in the process of correcting a blood sugar imbalance. Don't own that disease - you are more than just a malfunctioning pancreas! You are an eternal spirit, who uses their soul to think, feel and choose, and who lives in a magnificent physical body. Steps one and two are to control your thoughts and words. Step three is to take the correct action. Learn what you need to change in your nutrition or lifestyle and then just do it. You don't have to make every change all at once. You can take baby steps. Just be certain to begin and then to continue. That's how you will correct imbalances and experience true holistic health. Just think, speak and act!
